Boston success story a guide for Dominican rivers

Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Water Fund hosted the seminar "Conservation of rivers," with Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) program director Kate Bowditch, who spearheaded the successful recovery of the Charles River, in Boston.

The seminar aims to preserve Santo Domingo’s and the North region’s most important tributaries and ensure the quality of water for its inhabitants.

The initiative wouild benefit more than 1.7 million people in Santiago and the north region and 2.7 million in Greater Santo Domingo.

The conference forms part of the actions by the Water Funds, financial mechanisms that seek sustainability in the conservation of water production sources, coordinated by The Nature Conservancy with support from the Coca-Cola Company and its partner Dominican bottler Bepensa, government, and non-government agencies and multilateral financial institutions.

The speakers in the seminar held at UNPHU University discussed the deterioration processes of rivers and their effect on humans and other organisms.

They showcased the successful recovery processes of rivers under varying conditions of deterioration, and the organizations with cultural and political partnerships.
