Bakers’ fulfill threat, bread climbs to RD$7.00/bun

Santo Domingo.- The country’s medium and small flour distributors and bakeries grouped in the UMPH on Thursday made good their threat and raised the price of bread from RD$5.00 to RD$7.00 each bun.

Earlier this week the UMPH had warned of the increase claiming higher cost in raw materials needed to bake a bun that weighs less than two ounces.

The association had announced that it would apply the increase unless the government adopted measures to reduce the cost of the ingredients.
