Minister’s resignation won’t change Dominican-Haiti ties: Official
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic Foreign minister Andrés Navarro on Tuesday said the announced resignation of Haitian counterpart Pierre Duly Brutus won’t change the bilateral ties between Santo Domingo and Port-au-Prince.
He said he expects the policy of engagement towards the neighboring nation continues, regardless of any change of the Foreign Minister. "We expect that a decision involving the Foreign Minister’s situation won’t alter the climate of harmony that we’ve now cultivated.”
The official said the Dominican Foreign Ministry has yet to receive an official notification on Brutus’ resignation, reportedly to seek a presidential candidacy. "Don’t be concerned, relations with Haiti on the part of the Dominican Government will continue to advance."
