Dominican Republic´s 12 ports a boon for trade

Santo Domingo- DominicanRepublic´s 12 international ports are being managed efficiently and the officialestimates that 96% of all foreign and local trade is done by sea, underscoringthe country´s privileged geographical position.

Elcaribe.com.doreports that imports and exports move easily to and from the United States,Europe and other regions via strategically located terminals.

The Dominican PortAuthority (Apordom) says that six of the 12 ports are managed by the State;five operate under contract and one (La Romana) is private.

The ports: Santo Domingo, Boca Chica, Manzanillo, LaRomana, San Pedro, Barahona, Haina, Caucedo, Puerto Plata, Samaná, Azua andPedernales.
