Govt. workers get US$244.4M+ yearend bonus starting Fri.

Santo Domingo.- NationalTreasurer Alberto Perdomo on Tuesday said the Government will disburse morethan RD$11.0 billion (US$244.4 million) to pay the yearend bonus for publicservants starting Friday.

He said starting Fridaythe National Treasury will pay the Christmas bonus popularly known as the 13th salaryand “el doble,” in compliance with president Danilo Medina´s instruction todisburse the bonus from December 4 to 11.

The official said civilianand military pensioners will be the first to receive the bonus followed by the membersof the military and national police. "This gradualness is the result of thecoordination made with the (State-owned) Reservas bank to minimize congestionin branches and electronic services."
