Public Works opens major overpass at Duarte highway

Bonao, DominicanRepublic.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo on Sunday heading the openingof the overpass at Piedra Blanca and the Duarte highway, part of the project torebuild and expand the Juan Adrian-Rancho Arriba – Cruce de Ocoa road, a keylink between the south and north regions.

The 670 meter-longoverpass has four lanes and is designed for a speed of 80KPH to expedite trafficfrom Santiago to Santo Domingo, and eliminates the dangerous intersection at PiedraBlanca.

Castillo said theoverpass improves traffic safety on the Duarte highway, saves time and fuelcost, “and above all allows the rejoining of the community of Piedra Blanca, thatwas divided into two parts by the Duarte highway.”

He said work on thePiedra Blanca-Juan Adrian-Rancho Arrib road will soon start at the span of RanchoArriba-Nizao-Sabana Larga, which he affirms will have a fundamental impact onthe economic development of both regions.
