Larimar center showcases unique Dominican stone

Santo Domingo.- The larimarshop-museum in western Baoruco province figures among Dominican Republic´s mostattractive and unique tourism destinations.

State-owned bank BancaSolidarity (BS) director Maira Jimenez on Monday said the project showcases larimarjewelry and other finished products already form part of the country´s offer toforeign and domestic tourists.

She said larimar, minedexclusively in Barahona and Baoruco provinces, complements Dominican Republic´stourism package offered here and abroad.

The official, quoted by elcaribe.com.do, said the BS,together with the also State-owned Reservas Bank and its insurance branch, madegood on president Danilo Medina´s pledge for the country, from the South region,to boast a larimar school and shop-museum. "The larimar school-museum andshop have become a landmark for all area visitors."
