Less than half of motor vehicles renew tags as deadline looms

Santo Domingo.- The InternalTaxes Agency (DGII) affirmed Tuesday that just 457,724 owners of motor vehicleshave renewed their tag, of the nearly one million motorists who need to do so.
In a joint news conference,DGII motor vehicles director Carolina Yamamoto and Metropolitan TransitAuthority (AMET) spokesman Diego Pesqueira said the license plates can berenewed until January 8.
As to revenue, Yamamotosaid RD$619 million have been collected from the renewals. She said renewals viathe web will end Dec. 21.
