Cheaper foods pace -0.09% decline in April prices: Central Bank

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s Central Bank on Thursdaysaid April prices declined -0.09% with inflationfor the first four months at -0.67%, “which remains below the lower limit ofthe inflation target of 4.0% ± 1.0% set in the monetary program for 2016.”
In an emailed statement, the Central Bankt said annualizedinflation, from April 2015 to April 2016 was 1.75%.
The Central Bank attributes the 0.90% decline in prices ofsome food staples to the recovery in agro production after the severe droughtin 2015, and cited the -12.24% fall on the cost of plantains.
