Cruise port to host major export fair from June 27 to 29

Santiago.- Exporta 2016, the largest event of its kind everheld in the country and the region, will be staged June 27 to 29 at Sans Souci cruise ship portin the capital.

The Santiago Chamber of Commerce and Production, the North RegionIndustrial Association (AIREN) and the Santiago Industrialists and Business Association(ACIS) made the announcement at the press conference, in the presence of aroundrepresentatives, potential customers and exporters.

The Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD)will host the event where more than 1,000 interested customers from more than50 countries expected, with as many businessmeetings scheduled during the fair’s intense two days.

“An estimated more than 3,500 business meetings will beconducted with a view to close contracts and therefore the creation of jobs andwealth for Dominicans,” the promoters said.

A boost for exports

The CEI-RD adds that the government’s work has strengthenedthe exports sector. "It’s another great accolade from president DaniloMedina to the country’s productive sector."

The Government’s participation includes the Agriculture Ministry,the Customs, Industrial Development and Competitiveness (PROINDUSTRIA) agencies.
