Taxi drivers protest Uber’s ‘illegal’ operation at busy airport

Santo Domingo.- The Las Americas Airport’s Taxi Drivers Unionon Wednesday picketed in front of the terminal during more than two hours to protestallegedly illegal operation of vehicles by the transport company Uber.

The picket transpired peacefully closely watched byNational Police officers and security agents.

The protest, which lasted from 10am to 12 noon didn’t hamperany of the arriving or departing flights, according to the Las Americas Operations.

Taxi union spokesman Juan De Jesus said they’re protesting illegaloperations by the foreign taxi company Uber, around the airport. "Uber, asyou know is a company without any legal framework which is not authorized fortheir vehicles to ply Route 66, from Las Americas Airport or any other Dominicanairport."
