Government agencies are urged to ‘buy green’
Santo Domingo.-The Environment Ministry and the Public Purchasing Agency on Wed. agreed to encourage government agencies to make environmentally sustainable purchases.
“The strategies we’re promoting are very innovative to ensure that all companies comply with environmental requirements,” Environment minister Francisco Domínguez said during the signing of the agreement.
“Green purchasing, I think it is very innovative and we recognize that this initiative serves as a push and encourages each of us to develop our projects in accordance with sustainable development,” the official said.
“Institutions buy absolutely everything and with this we’ll help the market pay attention to that requirement that will be done from the administration,” said Public Purchasing director Yokasta Guzman in a statement.
“The officials agreed to formulate and implement a sustainable national public procurement policy, based on international best practices and local reality.”
