US$10.4M+ in damage to roads, bridges from downpours

Santo Domingo.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo on Friday set the damages to roadways caused by a week of downpours across the country at more than RD$5.0 billion (US$10.4 million).

He said the report will be concluded not later than tomorrow, to deliver it to president Danilo Medina.

He said Public Works technicians finalize the report which will include definitive solutions on the works affected.

The official said the rains collapsed at least 42 bridges, washed out 13 major roads, 18 country roads and damaged numerous ramps to bridges.
