Construction on Santiago beltway 75% complete

Santiago.- Public Works Ministry chief of staff Ramón Antonio Pepín on Monday said construction on Santiago’s 5-kilometer beltway is 75% complete, and affirmed it will contribute to ease traffic between the second largest city and the rest of the Cibao (north) region.

“This avenue will cut traffic time in Santiago, will link productive zones, reduce the time to transport products and free zone personnel, will contribute with the environment by saving fuel and make transport safer and in less time for users,” the official said in a visit to inspect the work.

Pepín said the work, built on president Danilo Medina’s express instructions, will be completed and delivered for inauguration at the end of this year.
