Cops enforce truck ban on the Malecon

Santo Domingo.- Truck drivers were ticketed for using the Malecon seaside avenue, on the stretch of around two kilometers.

In the first two hours after the of resolution, issued Thursday by the National District city council took effect, the traffic police (Amet) wrote 10 summons, according to a Lt. Morillo.

The ban on heavy vehicle traffic on the Malecn, from Lincoln Av. to the Montesinos monument, is enforced from 12 noon to midnight.

Truck drivers from Haina port using the 30 de Mayo Av., headed to Santo Domingo Port or other intersections, should turn left at Lincoln and take the 27 de Febrero Av. to their destination and vice versa.
