Big business also opposes sale of propane in gas stations
Santo Domingo.- National Business Council (Conep) president Pedro Brach on Tue. said he’s opposed to the sale of propane gas at stations of other fuels.
The Conep’s position comes just hours after the Association of Foreign Investment Companies (Asiex) also stated its opposition to the sale of propane at gasoline stations.
He warned of the danger in storing and distributing different fuels in one place, as their complicated handling poses a threat to the population’s safety.
He said he shares the concerns of the National District Fire Dept., which also warned against the storage and sale of gasoline, diesel and propane in the same space.
“I understand that it’s the duty of the authorities to ensure citizen security,” Brache said in a statement, adding that propane “is quite volatile,” and to allow its sale in gas stations would increase the risk of fires.
