No changes on fuel sales in stations for now

Santo Domingo.- The Industry and Commerce Ministry on Mon. its postpone making a decision on the proposed sale, in the same stations, of liquid fuels and gases, as some distributors have requested.

It said its priority is to complete the regulatory process on all fuel stations, gasoline, diesel and propane and natural gas. “The urgent thing is to execute the Regularization Plan designed to solve a delicate situation that has been pending for decades.”

“The potential risks arising from a mixed operation would require a stricter regulatory framework, greater operational, technical and logistical resources, as well as improved monitoring and control mechanisms that are much more sophisticated than those in effect,” Industry and Commerce said In statement postponing the decision

“It’s not about the simplicity of adding a product in a location, but a new category of stations instead,” it said, adding that “a decision in this regard must also include an evaluation, beyond the economic interests over the need and convenience.”
