High court nixes Dominican-Kuwait air services pact

Santo Domingo.- The Constitutional Court on Wed. declared unconstitutional the Air Services Agreement signed Dec. 17, 2016 between the Dominican and Kuwaiti governments.

The agreement sought to establish cooperation between both nations to expand opportunities in air service, guaranteeing the highest degree of protection and international security.

It also sought to make it possible for airlines to offer the traveling public and send packages, a variety of service options, motivating the development of individual airlines and implementing innovative and competitive prices.

The high court announced the ruling, published on January 30, but doesn’t provide the reasons behind the decision.
