Santo Domingo.- Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) representative Miguel Coronado on Mon. said that agency works on a strategic support plan with financing for various projects in the Dominican Republic, through disbursements as high as US$650.0 million expected this year.
“Until February 27 when the president (Danilo Medina) submits his report and the sessions in Congress begin, we’re optimistic and we hope that the Government will make the decision to move the agenda of the different projects that we have,” the executive said, quoted by Diario Libre.
Coronado said they approved the new IDB strategy in the Dominican Republic in December 2017, which seeks inclusive and sustainable growth and the creation of quality jobs that can reduce levels of poverty and inequality.
“Within this program, which is 3 years old, we seek to improve the provision of basic social services and are focused on issues of education, health, social protection and trying to improve the issues that matter to this economy to create jobs of quality and generate more innovation and competitiveness,” he said.
Moreover, Coronado stressed that the IDB adopts core actions that are focused on issues of gender, where they observe some daunting challenges and also issues on climate change due to the ravages of nature present today to have prevention points at the ready.
