Monte Grande

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Government has negotiated a US$249.6 million loan with the Central American Economic Integration Bank (BCIE) to conclude Phase III of the Monte Grande Dam Multiple Project.

Finance minister Donald Guerrero signed the agreement with BCIE Executive Vice President Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora.

The loan will provide the funds to finish construction of the dam at Monte Grande, Barahona (southwest), which will benefit the low-income population of the Enriquillo region, including access to drinking water, flood control and over 2,500 direct jobs during construction.
