Medina breaks ground on US$160.0M bus terminal; 2nd cable car

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina broke ground for the construction of an interurban bus terminal that will serve most of the northern region and link it with Greater Santo Domingo.
He also announced the construction of the second cable car line that will cover 11 kilometers, with six stations in northern Santo Domingo.
Medina said the 11-kilometer cable car line will feature six stations, starting at the Los Alcarrizos subdivision.
“These terminals, of 11 kilometers, will cost 110 million dollars, approximately, five billion pesos and the intercity passenger terminals will cost three billion pesos. We are talking about a set of works started this afternoon that have a cost of around eight billion pesos (US$160.0 million),” said Medina at the ceremony.
He said the projects will be built without financing, “with economy of the Government,” for which they’re committed to allocate two billion pesos to the Public Works Ministry and the cable car agency, URBE.
