Over 27,000 gain access to new training center in Nizao

Santana, Nizao.– The National Institute for Technical and Professional Training (INFOTEP), with the presence of Vice President Raquel Peña, inaugurated the first phase of the modern José Alberto Madé Technological Center in Santana. The center will have a capacity for 1,700 participants and will also specialize in transportation and logistics in its second phase.

In addition to Santana, the center will impact the municipality of Nizao and the municipal district of Pizarrete, which together have a population of more than 27,000 people, where women predominate.

Vice President Raquel Peña highlighted that technical and professional training is synonymous with improvement and growth because it allows people to acquire skills for personal development and the development of society as a whole. She emphasized that this is why President Luis Abinader is committed to continuing to expand INFOTEP’s technological centers.

Peña stated that with this José Alberto Madé Technological Center and another that will be inaugurated this Friday in Santo Domingo Este, INFOTEP has grown from 8 centers in 2020 to 46 at present, where young people and adults can develop their potential through the available careers.

The vice president also pointed out that society is living in a time that demands continuous renewal and broader skills, so she invited people to take advantage of the areas that are in high demand and are part of the center’s offerings.

The director general of INFOTEP, Rafael Santos Badía, said that with the center specializing in transportation and logistics, a new stage begins that will provide the country with an effective alternative to reduce traffic accidents, improve customer service, and increase productivity.

“Today, the province of Peravia is honored, in its municipal district of Santana de Nizao, with the inauguration of the first phase of the José Alberto Madé Technological Center, a work that will have, from now on, and in its subsequent phases, an extension and quality of services notable, of great impact in the province and the Southern region of our country,” Santos Badía highlighted.

Santos Badía said that the center has a training offer that is the result of a study of Training Needs in the Municipality of Nizao and Surrounding Communities, carried out by INFOTEP, which includes the following workshops: Pastry, Gastronomy, Computing, Health and Beauty, Bar and Restaurant, Languages, Electricity, Hydroponics, Fish Farming, Transportation, and Logistics.

“The announcement of this inauguration had an immediate response: there are already 23 groups of participants, with 438 applications to start immediately, after this inauguration,” Santos Badía affirmed.

The name with which this important Center has been baptized honors a Dominican who stood out in his leadership for the defense of the environment, his high professionalism and integrity in his work as a technician and advisor in the Ministry of Environment and in the private sector.

José Alberto Madé was notably qualified in the areas of electricity and refrigeration, as well as an outstanding teacher at INFOTEP, where he trained generations of technicians in his areas of expertise.
