H. Clinton coming to Dominican capital for hemispheric meeting

Santo Domingo.- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will head the 4th ministerial meeting "Pathways to Prosperity in the Americas" today, to be held in the Foreign Relations Ministry building, on the Malecon.

Senior government officials, lawmakers, industrialists, academicians and representatives of international organizations of the Americas will take part in the event, who’ll share their best practices to promote inclusive economic growth and prosperity in the hemisphere.

Secretary Clinton will be accompanied by Wendy Sherman, deputy secretary for Political Topics; Jose W. Fernandez, deputy secretary for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs, and by Roberta Jacobson, interim deputy secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs.

The U.S. official is slated to arrive in the country today and immediately join the sessions, which will conclude Tuesday afternoon.

During the visit the U.S. delegation will meet with the ministers representing "Pathways to Prosperity" Member State, as well as with Dominican officials and private sector representatives slated to participate in the meeting.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude with a 6 p.m. press conference.

Education

In the conclave education will be among the key topics, titled Competitiveness of the Americas, with representatives from 34 countries "Committed to education to compete.”
