Candidates seek 5 benches in Superior Electoral Court

SANTO DOMINGO.- Among the candidates’ hesitations, nerves, picturesque responses and statements based law, the first open evaluation by the National Magistrate Council (CNM) began last night with the first 21 of 89 candidates for the five benches in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), and an equal number of substitutes.

The televised session to evaluate the potential members of the new court created by the reformed Constitution was slated for 5pm, but began at 6:37 p.m., in the National Palace.

president Leonel Fernandez heads the CNM, and includes the presidents of the Senate, Reinaldo Pared, of the Chamber of Deputies, Abel Martinez, of the Supreme Court, Jorge Subero, the deputy of the opposition PRD party Hugo Núñez, and the senator of the also opposition PRSC party, Felix Vásquez.

Also members of the CNM are Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez, and judge Victor Jose Castellanos, secretary.
