Colombian cartel’s 1,098 Ks of cocaine was headed to U.S.
Santo Domingo. – Antinarcotics chief Rolando Rosado yesterday said the 1,098 kilos of cocaine seized in a residence of the Alma Rosa sector last week was in transit through the country and headed to the United States.
He said it belonged to a Colombian cartel which tries to use the country to take drugs to other nations, “like almost the totality of the drugs that come through our territory.”
Rosado said heightened port security to prevent the entry of drugs into the country isn’t necessary, noting that the controls implemented are, in fact what has led to more confiscation of narcotics.
