Ex, current Santiago mayors face indictments on “shenanigans”

Santiago.- Santiago’s mayor Gilberto Serulle demands that the Justice Ministry charge his predecessor Jose Enrique Sued, after an Accounts Chamber audit uncovered irregularities of RD$3.0 billion.

Serulle spokesman Luis González Fabra said despite the complaint filed against Sued more than one year ago on the findings from 2004 to 2005 and 2008 to 2009, the Public Ministry has yet to proceed.

“The first thing this audit shows is that when mayor Serulle denounced he had found an administrative situation on the brink of chaos, with many millions in debts, was that he wasn’t lying,” he said by phone quoted by news source elcaribe.com.do.

“Shenanigans”

Meanwhile minority parties now plan to request an Accounts Chamber audit into Serulle’s tenure, accusing him of irregularities they call “shenanigans.” They say Sued as well as Serulle has incurred in all types of irregularities, and would have to be indicted.
