Airport security agents could belong to major drug trafficking ring

Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) questions two Security agents in Las Americas International Airport in connection with the 28 packages of cocaine or heroin seized in that terminal Tuesday.

The drug yet to be weighed , estimated at around 28 kilos, was reportedly brought to the country by Betania Medina Mosquea aboard Copa flight 251 from Bogota was hidden in 14 double-lined trousers.

The DNCD said Luis Antinagora Báez, Doriani Lizbeth Pujols and Diogenes Daniel Báez, who were waiting for Medina outside the airport, were detained by Police after a brief chase and seized from them were RD$83,400, a Municipal Police ID that doesn’t specify which City council, a Internal Tax Agency ID, several cell phones, and a Mitsubishi Montero SUV without tags.

A source close to the investigation quoted by newspaper Diario Libre said the two CESA agents –yet to be identified to not hinder the investigation- form part of a powerful drug trafficking network part of which operates in the AILA.
