Return of heisted plane awaits Venezuela probe
Santo Domingo. – The return to Dominican Republic of the Beechcraft twin-engine plane owned by the Puntacana Group, stolen from the International Airport the Higüero (AILI) will depend on the probe by Venezuelan authorities.
Dominican Civil Aviation Institute director Alejancro Herrera said the case “depends on the progress of the investigation” into plane registry N-871C swiped at dawn Sunday October 23, found two days later in the Venezuela state of Apure.
“At no time was Dominican Republic’s civil aviation operational security placed at risk. Operational security has never been in play.”
Herrera revealed that safety measures in all airports will be reinforced jointly with the Airport Security Agency (CESAC) and Civil Aviation, adding that the plane’s theft is a first in the country.
