Santo Domingo. – Opposition PRD party presidential candidate Hipólito Mejía has 47.9% of the preferences and Danilo Medina, of the ruling PLD, 42.6%, says a Gallup survey published Monday by newspaper Hoy.

The pollster Gallup Dominican Republic conducted the field work between November 11 and 14, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8%.

The survey conducted “face to face” interviews with a group people selected by a stratified and multi-stage proportional sampling, and found that Mejia’s rejection rate is 36.5%, to Medina’s 28.8%.

Gallup said the PRD’s candidate remains on top but Medina rose 9.1 points, compared with the last Gallup-Hoy survey conducted at the end August, when Mejía figured with 47.9% of the votes to Medina’s 33.4%.
