Latin American Idol winner found liable in traffic death

Santo Domingo.- Latin American Idol 2009 winner Martha Heredia was found liable by the Villa Altagracia (central) Traffic Court Tuesday, and will have to pay RD$1.5 million in damages to the family of the Haitian national Wason Bendredi, run over by the SUV in which the singer traveled.

Contrary to previous occasions the singer, born in Santiago, went to the hearing.

The accident which led to the death of the Haitian national occurred last December 43 kilometers north of the capital on the Duarte highway, where Heredia is also accused of fleeing the site of an accident.
