Boat adrift near Beata Island rescued; 3 crew, US national Capt. safe

SANTO DOMINGO. – The Navy rescued the sailboat "Wilan" and three crew on the high seas Wednesday, including his captain, the U.S. national Alan Arnold Rensrow.

The boat registry BR-1814BCH was towed to the anchorage at Beata Island, after being adrift from engine failure.

Navy spokesman Antonio Cabral said the boat was towed early yesterday morning by the Navy boat Aldebaran to the port at Rojo Cabo, where a search by authorities turned up nothing illegal.
