Someone skims money from visas for Chinese, business leader says

Santo Domingo.- As many as 40 Chinese nationals enter the country every month to set up residence, but some must pay up to 18,000 dollars per visa, when the official price of an entrance permit is 142 dollars.

Dominican-Chinese Development Institute (IDDOCHI) president Rafael Sang Rivas on Sunday affirmed that they’ve taken the complaint to Foreign Relations minister Carlos Morales.

Quoted by news source hoy.com.do, Sang said he doesn’t know who keeps that money of the Asian citizens. He said Dominicans erroneously believe that some Chinese citizens come to the country only to continue on to the United States.
