Nearly 50 locals arrested in regional sweep against gangs, diariolibre.com reports.

SANTO DOMINGO. – The National Police announced the arrest and indictments of nearly 50 people in Santiago and other cities of the Cibao region (north), as part of the Regional Anti-gang Operation (OPRA) conducted simultaneously since November 1 in Central America, Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic, diariolibre.com reports.

The detainees are alleged members of the gangs Trinitarios, Los 42, Latin Kings, Panteras and Los Los Ñetas, caught with four handguns, portions of cocaine and articles allusive to their respective gangs.

The detainees include Vicente Arismendy Báez, Henry Polanco, Carlos J. Gutiérrez "Cuquito," Luis Alejandro "Pansa," José Miguel Coronado, Miguel Núñez, Wandy de Jesús Valdez, Ruddy Alexis Almanzar, Jefry José Infante, Enmanuel Reyes, Persio Antonio Peña and Juan Armando Díaz.

Also Yassel Luna, Edigerdison Perez, Gabriel Sosa, Keila Yaritza Rodriguez, ex leader of Trinitarios women, Yacquelina Nuez, Rogelio Aneudi Taveras, Pili Rodriguez, Jesus Antonio Garcia, Gabriel Martinez Rodriguez and Richard Miguel, among others.

National Police Anti-gangs Division, together with an team of officers with experience in dealing with the gangs also called Las Naciones.
