Prominent writer, satirist Viriato Sención passes away in Philadelphia

Santo Domingo.- The funeral service for prominent Dominican writer Viriato Sención was held yesterday in Philadelphia, where he lived with his wife and where he passed away 9pm Sunday.

The writer won the Dominican Literature Award 1996 for his novel “Los que falsificaron la firma de Dios”, (Those who forged God’s signature), a scathing rebuke of late president Joaquin Balaguer’s form of government.

The author of several successful political satire works had lived in the United States since 1989.
