Penn & Schoen poll: Medina 46%, Mejía 44% (Update)

SANTO DOMINGO.- The pollster Penn, Schoen & Berland yesterday disclosed a survey Monday with a technical tie between Dominican Republic’s presidential candidates of the ruling PLD party Danilo Medina and Hipólito Mejía, of the opposition PRD, with 3% for the candidate of the minority organization, PRSC.

The survey contracted by the Group SIN, conducted from January 12 to 18, found when asked “Who would you vote for?” 46% of those polled said Medina, to 44% for Mejía.

When their ticket mates Margarita Cedeño and Luis Abinader were included, Medina obtained 47% to Mejia’s 44%.

Medina’s widest margin over Mejía comes when those surveyed were asked “Who do you believe is finally going to win the next elections?,” with 52% saying Medina, and 42% Mejia.

The survey was conducted from January 12 to 18, 2012, with 1,000 eligible voters and a margin of error de +/- 3.1 percent.
