Puerto Rican lawmaker on the run negotiates surrender here

Santo Domingo. – The ex Puerto Rican lawmaker Iván Rodriguez Traverso, wanted in his country for alleged corruption and who’s reportedly in Dominican Republic, is negotiating his surrender with U.S. authorities.

His lawyer Hilton Garcia, quoted by Puerto Rico newspaper elnuevodia.com, said an agreement is being sought for turning himself in, including appearing before the media, because his defendant doesn’t want to be seen handcuffed.

Via text messages Friday Rodriguez Traverzo said he was in Dominican Republic and claimed his innocence of the charges.
