Local man extradited to South Carolina faces charges in wife’s murder

Santo Domingo. – A Dominican wanted for allegedly shooting his wife to death was extradited to the United States last night, to face charges of “intentional and premeditated murder” in Hill Rock, South Carolina, the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) announced today.

DNCD agents arrested Carlos Luis Pinales Mejía, who also used the name of Francisco Tejeda Aquino to avoid capture in the murder of Amver Marie Schiavone, on January 30, 2008.

The Dominican government authorizer Pinales’ handover after the Supreme Court handed down the ruling 3138-2010, on November 15, accepting the U.S. request for extradition.

DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebrón said the accused faces two counts of first degree murder in South Carolina’s York County Court.
