First Lady, major figures fall victim to hackers, Listin reports

Santo Domingo.- The Justice Ministry and senior national security officials Wednesday night launched a widespread investigation to arrest hackers of the email accounts of the First Lady Margarita Cedeño, several ministers and personalities in the world of business, newspaper Listin reports quoting sources.

Backed by mounting evidence include court-ordered taped phone conversations and intervened emails, investigators decided to launch the probe to detain the people who violated Law 53-07 on high tech crimes.

A source said a man, last name Gomez, has been identified as the mastermind behind the “cracking” or hacking of email accounts of the presidential family, ministers, military and business leaders, whose correspondence and details of private conversations were passed on or disclosed to undisclosed third parties.
