Journalist in hacking probe blames the President for searches

Santo Domingo.- The journalist Guillermo Gomez, the target of several searches by authorities today, accuse the government of attacking freedom of public opinion.

In a press conference in his residence, the journalist said the search of his house and of his Web newspaper elsiglo21.com, "is an attack from the government which persecutes with repressive aims two media outlets, such as Siglo21.com and the television program Aeromundo."

He said the authorities who participated in the searches took the informative material which those media had begun to disclose.

Gomez added that he’ll “not be intimidated by president Leonel Fernandez.”
