Local born U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan combat

NEW YORK.- Twenty year old Dominican born U.S. soldier Osbrany Montes de Oca, fell in combat in Helmad province, Afghanistan, the US Department of Defense said in a statement Monday night.

It said Montes de Oca, raised in North Arlington, New Jersey, died Friday in combat. He was assigned to the Expeditionary Force of the 2nd Marine Division in Camp Lejuene, North Carolina.

In his Facebook account the Dominican soldier wrote that he liked to be active, raced sports cars in the cities of Hoboken and West New York and that he loved his fiancée, Maria Samaniego.
