Scattered showers, cooler temps, wind gusts

Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorology Office (Onamet) forecasts scattered showers nationwide, being moderate in the Northwest, North, Southeast, Central Mountains and border zone, accompanied by gusts of wind.

It said a nearly stationary frontal system over eastern Puerto Rico and the prevailing northeast wind will keep the temperatures seasonably mild, especially in the evening and early morning hours.

Meteorology said the Atlantic coast surf continue higher than normal, with waves of up to 11 feet near shore, where small craft should remain in port and residents in low lying areas should be on the lookout for flooding. It also warns swimmers on rip current I the beaches.

It said forecasts widely scattered to moderate showers, more frequent for the country’s North, Southeast, Central regions and border zone during the next 24 to 48 hours, decreasing Thursday.
