President Fernandez opens new housing projects

Samana, DR.– President Leonel Fernandez inaugurated two housing projects in Samana and Maria Trinidad Sanchez provinces with a total investment of approximately RD$124 million.

The projects, Invi-Villa Progreso in Samana and Invi-Villa Progreso El Factor in Maria Trinidad Sanchez, were built by the National Housing Institute (INVI), each consists of 64 residential units.

According to INVI director Alma Fernandez, the government has invested nearly US$11.7 million in the housing sector in the Samana region. The homes are intended for low-income families and those living at risk, and are the first stage of a nationwide housing programme by INVI.

Funds for the project came from an agreement between the Dominican Republic and the Caracas-based CAF Development Bank of Latin America.
