Nine in Caucedo Port 807K cocaine bust head to court
Santo Domingo.- The nine people arrested in the bust of 807 kilos of cocaine at Caucedo Port seized were handed over to the Santo Domingo Office of the Prosecutor Wednesday, among them ex Navy lieutenant Sandy de Leon Meléndez, while the investigation continues.
The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) said de Leon, assigned to the Port Security Division (CESEP) took part in the aborted effort to ship the drug, in the company of José Altagracia Basora, Alejandro Antonio Vizcaíno, Ángel Domingo Jiménez, Rubén Gabriel Castillo, Juan Carlos Mojica and Wascar Alberto Familia, as well as the brothers José Miguel and Johanna Alcántara.
The DNCD said the group hid the drug in a container full of bundles of tobacco, but was detected shortly before being loaded onto a freighter headed to Valencia, Spain.
