Electoral chief discards hacking of polls, but admits possibility

Santo Domingo. – Central Electoral Board president Roberto Rosario yesterday discarded any possibility of hacking the entity’s tabulation system, but admitted that no one is safe from that crime.

The official toured the facilities of the telecom Orange, to observe the network’s monitoring center, as part of the work to transmit the May 20 voting results from many parts of the country.

Orange president Jean Michel Garrouteigt, who led the tour for all the political party delegates and JCE officials, pledged to provide the effective and quality service.

The executive said the JCE can expect a reliable and effective service, resulting from the more than US$150.0 million invested in Orange’s network, which he affirms guarantees nationwide coverage.
