Opposition party’s blunders continue

Santo Domingo.- The blunders by Dominican Republic’s major opposition party (PRD) continued Thursday when it denied having any knowledge of senior leader Eligio Jaquez’s assertion that Electoral Central Board (JCE) president Roberto Rosario had urged ruling PLD party members to work harder for Danilo Medina’s campaign.

“The PRD doesn’t have any knowledge of that,” said PRD General Secretary Orlando Jorge, upon arriving at the JCE heading a commission and prior to entering Rosario’s office.

Jáquez, speaking, in the Colorvision Hoy Mismo program Thursday morning, said Rosario had met with 23 members of the PLD who were given designations in various government agents, and urged them to work for Medina’s win.

In the same program, Rosario by phone called the accusation false and challenged Jáquez to provide proof of the alleged meeting, and vowed to resign from the post if proved wrong.
