Latest poll gives ruling party presidential candidate a wide lead

Santo Domingo.- The pollster Benenson Strategy Group on Monday said ruling PLD party presidential candidate Danilo Medina heads Dominican Republic’s electoral preference 48% to opposition PRD rival Hipólito Mejía’ 40%.

Benenson surveyed 1,200 eligible voters from March 27 to 30 nationwide, in the poll with a margin of error of 2.83%.

It said the candidate Eduardo Estrella, of the Party for Change has 1%, with 0% for Max Puig, and Julian Serulle.

When the survey asked the legible voters which ticket they support, 51% said Medina and Margarita Cedeño, to 43% for Mejía and Luis Abinader.

Impact of women voters

Benenson said 55% of women voter favors prefer the Medina-Cedeño ticket, with 37% for Mejía-Abinader.
