Downpours trigger flash flood warnings for most regions

Santo Domingo.- The downpours from a low pressure system will continue through the weekend, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) announced Thursday, and issued flash flood and mudslide advisories for all regions except the south and southwest.

The heavy rains since Wednesday have drenched several communities including greater Santo Domingo, Santiago, San Pedro de Macorís, Monseñor Noel, Puerto Plata and Independencia.

First response agencies have reported the evacuation of 290 people from their homes thus far.
