Downpours wash out roads in eastern villages

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) on Friday said the continues downpours over most of the country in the last few hours six have washed out the roads in several areas of eastern San Pedro province, with districts of Pedro Santana especially hit.

It said 50 homes were damaged in the villages Concho Primo, Cabeza de Toro and Consuelo, among others, where the constant rains caused flash floods , forcing eight families top evacuate their homes.

The COE added that the number of provinces under flash flood and mudslide alerts have increased to 17, while the National Meteorology Office forecast continuing downpours from the combined effects of two low pressure systems.
