Fernandez expresses condolences for Mexico writer Carlos Fuentes

Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez on Wednesday expressed condolences to the Mexican government and the people for the death of the prestigious and prolific writer Carlos Fuentes.

“I extend to your government and to the Mexican peopole Dominican society’s deepest condolences for the death of one of the glories of Latin American and world Literature, Don Carlos Fuentes Macías,” the Dominican chief executive says in a letter to Mexico ambassador Jose Ignacio Piña.

Fernandez said Fuentes became an extraordinary writer not only for his contributions to Literature, as demonstrated in his ample and enriching prose, but also for relentless analysis of social and political issues, for which he was considered a citizen of the world.
