Two surveys say ruling party candidate wins in 1st balloting (Update)

Santo Domingo.- Two surveys disclosed Thursday morning say ruling PLD party presidential candidate Danilo Medina will win Sunday’s elections in first balloting…

The pollster Asisa Research Group said Medina win with 53.3% of the votes to opposition PRD party rival Hipólito Mejia’s 44.7%.

Asisa said the survey conducted from May 14 to 15 polled 6,993 eligible voters nationwide and 1,013 Dominicans abroad, for which its margin of error is 1.1%.

Meanwhile the final survey of the pollster Insight found that the PLD candidate has 54.7% of the eligible voters in his favor, compared with 43.1% for the PRD candidate.

It said the poll conducted from May 11 to 14 interviewed 1,200 eligible voters nationwide, and has a 2.9% margin of error, and a confidence level of 95.5%
